William and Irene were very hard workers on their rented farms.
William raised livestock and grew wheat, corn and other produce. He was a very accomplished farmer, and was able to turn a profit when others in the area couldn't.
This hard work and good fortune enabled the Beins family to move to their own purchased farm; at that time called the T.M. Scott Farm. This farm sat on 160 acres on the west half of section 30 in the Grant Precinct. Prosperous times and hard work afforded William and Irene to acquire another 80 acres in the Northwest quarter of section 36, and later the Southwest quarter of section 36. In total the Beins family owned 560 acres of prime Hamilton County land.
Between 1916 and 1920 "the old house" was moved and the "New House" built. The new house was ahead of its time in the features it had. It was the first in the county to have a indoor bathroom! It also had a Delco battery lighting system.
In 1945 William and Irene retired from the farm. They sold the it to their son Donald and moved to 706 J Street in Aurora. this house was deamed the "Honeymoon House" by Irene.
On October 17th Irene suffered a stroke. Never recovering, she passed away on October 25th 1945 in her retirement home.
William remarried in 1947. His bride was Kathryn Rosella Munden Schultz of Iroquis, S.D. Katheryn was in a round about way related to William. In 1917 Katheryn married Han J. Schultz. Hans was the son of Cecilia Catherine Wind Schultz. This made Hans the first cousin of Hansena Irene Wind Beins.
